The Painter

I painted this artwork over the course of several weeks, starting in December 2022. I treated myself with a fat TASCHEN book about Claude Monet and the art and biography of this legendary French impressionist inspired me to create this painting. One particular inspiration, that I took from my study of Claude Monet's work, was that I didn't want to rush this artwork. I painted it in several sessions and had at least a week pass between them. I didn't want to "produce" this painting but to "create" it, carefully looking at the restult of my previous session and working from that point with a relatively fresh eye. I enjoyed that way of working very much and I think I might expand the concept by working on different paintings in parallel. Claude Monet was known for having worked on dozens of paintings at the same time and that kind of approach never really occurred to me as a possibility. Anyway, I hope you enjoy looking at this painting.
